About ELYSIUM Gardens:
ELYSIUM Gardens began as a dream of Jacquie Cherot and partner, Katsumi Miyazaki, in
1997 to transform an aging apple orchard into a series of perennial gardens, to
complement a unique perennial nursery, and ...to display the great variety of
plants that are hardy to the semi-arid climate of the Okanagan Valley. The
gardens now encompass about four acres with over 2000 varieties of
perennials, bulbs, ornamental grasses, roses, vines, shrubs and trees. Fragrant herb and rose gardens, lush English borders,
rock and scree beds, woodland gardens, xeriscape (water conserving) gardens, peony and daylily display beds are but a few of the themed gardens to be viewed.
Throughout the garden there are benches under pergolas that are draped with roses and clematis where you can rest in the shade
to fully enjoy the gardens.
"Hi Sho En",
our Japanese inspired garden, opened in the autumn of 2002 ~ a tribute to our Japanese family and friends.
The gardens are
of interest to both knowledgeable and casual gardeners and everyone who
appreciates the beauty of nature. ELYSIUM Gardens are maintained organically and our gardening practices are
very mindful of water conservation. A labour of love, made possible by the generous help of family and friends.
